Genoprotective role of purslane methanol extract against somatic mutations induced by bifenthrin, a third generation prethyroid insecticide

In this study, in vitro and vivo genotoxic effects of Bifenthrin (BIF), an important insecticide used agricultural production, storage processing, were investigated. The genoprotective properties purslane (Portulaca oleracea L.) against the BIF also determined by using methanol (POmet) extract plant. experiments performed with somatic mutation recombination test (SMART) Drosophila melanogaster. studies, human peripheral blood cultures prepared different concentrations applied to lymphocyte cells accordance procedure both micronucleus (MN) sister chromatid exchange (SCE) assay. results obtained from all tests showed that is induces chromosomal mutations. Later, another experiment was conducted it reduced POmet (1:1 v/v). This result, which observed tests, shows plant a potent radical scavenger. Due healing POmet, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GS-MS) method determine components its content. Some found highest ratio are γ-sitosterol (21.86%), 13-docosenamide, (13.30%), palmitic acid (12.85%), stigmasteol (6.64%), campesterol (5.69%), linoleicacid (5.46%) 2-methyl-1-hexadecanol (3.88%).
